New Home Treadle c. 1893

Before ................. & ................. After

Many thanks to all the Onions who guided me on my first restoration project.

She needed 10 weeks in a kerosene soak plus LOTS of brute force to break free. But now she spins like silk!

The result of kerosene, xtrafine sandpaper, & mineral oil. I used a flat bladed screwdriver to scrape rust from the belt groove, soaking between scrapings.

All parts are original. None were replaced. I did no paint touchups.

New Home said they used actual gold paint in 1893.

It's hard to get a clear picture now, due to glare from shiny metal !

Don't know why the bottom right corner looks like it's deeply pitted with sharp metal edges. Just a picture fluke. I still need to touch up bare metal with Extend, but I'll experiment first to make sure I like the results.

T'was the Captain himself who straightened the bent needle bar at Linda's minitoga & said I did a nice job.

High praise from one whose opinion I value!
