She needed 10 weeks in a kerosene soak plus LOTS of brute force to break free. But now she spins like silk!
The result of kerosene, xtrafine sandpaper, & mineral oil. I used a flat bladed screwdriver to scrape rust from the belt groove, soaking between scrapings.
All parts are original. None were replaced. I did no paint touchups.
New Home said they used actual gold paint in 1893.
It's hard to get a clear picture now, due to glare from shiny metal !
Don't know why the bottom right corner looks like it's deeply pitted with sharp metal edges. Just a picture fluke. I still need to touch up bare metal with Extend, but I'll experiment first to make sure I like the results.
T'was the Captain himself who straightened the bent needle bar at Linda's minitoga & said I did a nice job.
